Think of a movie that has stirred you recently. Why did it affect you that way? For us men, it is often because we have watched a man courageously living out of his heart. Here is someone who has refused to play it safe with life, who has taken up the quest set before him, who is willing to face the enemies stacked against him and not back down.
We are stirred, but often just for the moment. When the credits finish rolling, we come off the high and find ourselves back in the zone of the familiar. Here we are often too frazzled to even think about such an idea as our destiny. Or maybe we have just resigned ourselves to surviving as best we can. How could we ever go on a quest? Either way, something is us dies as men. For we were meant to live for something so much larger, something so much higher.
This retreat will explore just that possibility. We will look at what it means to get out of the small stories we have constructed for ourselves and get up into the grand story God is authoring. Along the way, we will explore the idea of finding our quest and with that finding our true manhood.
